Hello, I am Lisa.
Originally, I am a goldsmith and jewellery designer/maker (you can find my Contemporary Design Jewellery Shop 'ProonK Jewellery' on Etsy also).
However, since the birth of my two kids, I see myself somewhat bound to the house with not a lot of time to work in my downtown Utica jewellery studio.

Since my hands are still itching to let my creative juices flow, I first picked up a very old passion of mine, knitting. I knitted a lot of baby clothes to dress my kids and as a result I came up with the idea of the 'Jewel Bootie', hence the name 'The Jewel Knitter'. (You can find the booties and more info on them in my shop.)

With my son getting bigger and my daughter being born fairly quickly after, we were in constant need of new baby clothes. We started off with generic store bought clothes and don't get me wrong, they are absolutely fine, but at some point I had this desire to create something custom that might also fit to a special occasion or match with someone in the family. Something that is not too 'cookie-cutter' and that not a lot of kids at daycare might also wear. So, for my sister in law's wedding, I decided to make a matching dress for my daughter and me... and I was instantly hooked!

I love to pick and match fabrics, find and create patterns, combine fabric and colors and of course add the occasional Bling!

So, since the beginning of 2017, I am a jewellery maker at day and a sewing machine at night!
